When I first picked up a camera, it opened my eyes in a way that made me slow down to see my daily surroundings in a new light. I think we can cultivate new approaches to our usual ways of thinking when we stay open to viewing our surroundings from different angles, in various lights, and perhaps in others' shoes now and then. My photography focuses primarily on our natural surroundings because I am passionate about the care and preservation of our natural world. I love to be able to share the artistry that I see in nature, and I am big on light. About 95% of the time, light makes or breaks a shot in my book. I am very much drawn to back-lighting and natural illumination. They are powerful visuals for me. My hope is that if nothing else, my images conjure up emotion for the viewer as well.
I grew up in the state of Minnesota where I worked for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. After college, my husband and I, along with our two little girls have been living in various states throughout the country over the past 16 years during our family's time in the U.S. Air Force. We have very recently resettled in the mountains of Edwards, Colorado where we hope to stay long term, and couldn't be more excited for our new chapter.
I enjoy working with nature networks and agricultural organizations doing good things for the community, and for the health of families both locally and nationally. Feel free to contact me anytime with questions, project requests, or to purchase prints.
